BRANDT PRODUCTS HELP DAVID HULA ESTABLISH NEW CORN YIELD WORLD RECORD

David Hula has shattered his own National Corn Growers Association competition world yield record using crop nutrition products from BRANDT, a leading agriculture retailer and manufacturer of specialty agriculture products. Hula harvested 623.8 bushels per acre in the no-till, irrigated category.

A renowned grower from Charles City, Virginia, Hula bested his previous record of 616.2 bu./ac.

“I’m so blessed to achieve another world record,” said Hula. “Every world record is a team accomplishment and BRANDT has been a trusted partner, delivering innovative product technologies. BRANDT’s products not only feed the plant, but they also promote activity in the roots and throughout the whole plant. I’m proud to have BRANDT on my team.

“Hula and BRANDT have been chasing another world record since developing a successful program that set the previous world record of 616.2 bu./ac. in 2019. For his 2023 record and across his operation, Hula used a suite of BRANDT’s technology-driven products, including:

  •    BRANDT EnzUp Zn, a proprietary enzyme starter fertilizer technology to set a strong foundation for plant emergence and growth.
  •    BRANDT Smart K B, an advanced foliar micronutrient nutritional, to satisfy his crop’s need for potassium and boron.
  •    BRANDT Smart Trio and N-Boost, BRANDT’s flagship foliar micronutrients, to custom feed the crop additional nutrients at the right time and place.

“I love pushing the boundaries of the crop and getting even closer to the plant’s genetic potential,” said Hula. “BRANDT helps me take care of the details. I was able to get the crop off to a good start with their enzymes and then feed it just what it needs with their micros.

“I’m also looking forward to using more BRANDT Rezadone next year across my production acres to optimize my seed beds,” explained Hula. “Rezadone is a new post-harvest biological product for residue management that is showing real promise in trials and early adoption acres.”

Hula’s 623.8-bushel yield was 222 bushels better than the next entrant in the NCGA no-till, irrigated category. To get there, he worked closely with BRANDT’s Discovery & Innovation group.

“Breaking the corn yield world record is an achievement that speaks volumes about the innovation and effectiveness of BRANDT products,” said Brian Haschemeyer, VP BRANDT Discovery & Innovation. “David’s remarkable achievement demonstrates our products’ ability to push the boundaries of agricultural productivity.”

In addition to this and Hula’s previous world records, BRANDT has contributed to three soybean world records achieved by Randy Dowdy and Alex Harrell.

“Wow. David Hula, once again, you’ve raised the bar in corn production, setting an extraordinary new world record,” said Rick Brandt, President, and CEO of BRANDT. “It’s an honor to see our technologies in your portfolio as you break records and help other growers through your Total Acre program.”

BRANDT products, including all those used on Hula’s crop, are available through a diverse network of local Ag retailers. More information is available at www.brandt.co.
