Within the PanAmerican Seed assortment, there is a large selection of varieties that are highly tolerant of extreme heat and harsh sunlight. Products that can survive these tough conditions are, for example: Pentas, Vinca, Zinnia, Gazania, Marigold and Begonia.
Pentas is a highly-durable, heat-tolerant flowering plant that can withstand hot climates and is easily grown in containers and the landscape. Due to its abundant nectar supply, this amazing flower attracts various pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Pentas Lucky Star from PanAmerican Seed is bred with the fastest follow-up blooming of any pentas on the market. This colour-rich series has a tight, compact habit that keeps each plant looking tidy with almost no effort. Lucky Star is available in six showstopping colours: Dark Red, Violet, Deep Pink, Pink, Lavender, Raspberry, and White.
Gazania’s hardiness and attractive flowers and foliage make it a popular variety. It spreads quickly and blooms in flushes over most of the growing season. Gazania New Day from PanAmerican Seed is a compact series, well suited for the Gulf climate due to its high tolerance to drought and salinity. Bred to deliver short peduncles and beefier-looking plants, this uniform, largeflowered series performs beautifully in containers and baskets, as well as garden edging and groundcover.
Another classic variety that is known for superior performance in the landscape is the French Marigold. This flower thrives in sunshine and can withstand very hot weather conditions, while blooming brightly all Summer long. This year PanAmerican Seed introduced the NEW French Marigold Flamenco, which is a standalone variety that features a unique pattern with a yellow centre and redtipped petals. Flamenco offers the biggest blooms of any double crested marigold on the market, and will look great in patio containers and gardens.
